He also had a significant role with their AHL affiliate in Rockford and has international experience, having coached in Sweden’s second league from 2013 to 2017. Before transitioning into coaching, Colliton was a professional ice hockey player. He was drafted in the second round of the 2003 NHL Draft by the New York Islanders, where he played as a center. His career spans six seasons with the Islanders' organization, including 57 NHL games in which he scored three goals and made three assists.
